  • Degree objectives

    The Sociocultural Animation Technician is a professional qualified to use appropriate scientific tools to get to know a community and/or a group and encourage them to become active participants in their own development, towards a process of continuous improvement and enrichment and in a logic of lifelong education. They work with all age groups (children, young people, adults and the elderly) using a range of social, educational, sporting, recreational and playful techniques, using them in the service of the project outlined with the individual, group, institution and/or community.

  • Learning objectives and skills to be developed

    To master knowledge from various areas of knowledge that allow an understanding of the complexity of the contexts and processes that govern the lives of communities, groups and individuals

    To know and understand the genealogy of the historical processes of consolidation of the field of institutions and professions in the fields of Socio-cultural Animation and Social Work and to problematise their development.

    Know and mobilise the pedagogical, psychological, sociological and anthropological foundations that underpin the work processes characteristic of socio-cultural animation and intervention.

    Know the theories and methodologies that can be used to characterise and diagnose situations and contexts of socio-cultural animation and intervention.

    Demonstrate the ability to work with and value people, families, groups, organisations and communities, their needs and circumstances.

    Design, organise and manage socio-cultural animation projects individually and as part of a team (animation and leisure time, community intervention, leisure, social inclusion, ...).

    Be able to take an investigative approach to the social and institutional environments in which they work.

    Understand and mobilise the values and knowledge related to associative dynamism and entrepreneurship in the construction of appropriate voluntary, associative or business projects.

    Training of professionals of higher level in sectors that combine the animation with the social intervention in diverse contexts: childhood, youth, adulthood, old age; Justice, social welfare, culture, education; sociocultural animation.

    Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

    Application score: 100 points
    Admission exams: 95 points

    Calculation Formula
    High school GPA: 50%
