Learning objectives and skills to be developed
The overall objective of the programme is to train students to implement an innovative system, based on the best available scientific evidence, for the assessment and treatment of LBP, which associates specific types of treatment with different subgroups at risk of developing persistent and disabling pain in their clinical practice contexts. Specifically, throughout the course, students will develop: • Knowledge and understanding of the factors involved in the transition from an acute episode of low back pain to a persistent and disabling condition; • Clinical skills for standardised physiotherapy intervention for subgroups at high risk of developing persistent and incapacitating pain (patient education and exercise within a cognitive-behavioural approach).
